Premera Announcement

MOBE and Premera Blue Cross, two independent companies committed to improving customers’ lives, announce a new relationship. On behalf of Premera, MOBE has begun providing guided support to help people find relief from pain through the proven practice of self-management.

Recent studies by the National Institutes for Health and the Institute of Medicine have identified chronic pain as one of the largest health epidemics in the U.S. Chronic pain may not be a common term, as it is not typically a primary diagnosis. Rather, chronic pain is the invisible companion of many conditions, from autoimmune diseases to fibromyalgia, back pain and migraines, to stomach issues, chronic fatigue syndrome and more. Statistics show 100 million adults are impacted, and the numbers are growing. While much work is being done to address the issue of chronic pain today, there are no immediate cures. And few treatments prove to be consistently effective for the many suffering with pain.

The MOBE self-management program helps individuals develop skills to reduce, prevent and cope with pain. It is not a treatment, but a lifestyle approach to improve and complement health care.

In keeping with Premera’s purpose of improving customers’ lives by making healthcare work better, the partnership with MOBE is an innovative solution that provides tailored support to identified individuals who are navigating specific complex conditions. Premera is introducing this program as part of its overall care management services in Washington and Alaska.

Premera Blue Cross is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and serves members located in Washington and Alaska.
