Recipe: Stewed Apples

Ingredients

  • 2–3 large apples, cored and chopped 
  • ½ teaspoon fresh minced ginger or ¼ teaspoon ground ginger 
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice 
  • 2–4 tablespoons maple syrup (or to taste) 
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt 
  • ⅓ cup water 
Stewed apples.

Instructions

  1. First, core your apples and chop into bite-sized pieces. 
  2. Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan over low-medium heat and cook for 5–8 minutes with the lid on. 
  3. Remove the lid and continue to cook until the apples are tender to desired texture. Add more water to thin out, as needed 
  4. Best served warm. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
